SABA'S KARATE COMBAT DEBUTE!!

Saba Nabavinejad, joined the Takahashi Dojo in Atlanta in 2018. Earlier this year in March she took the chance and competed and won in her first Karate Combat professional fight in Mexico City! Saba had this to say about her experience in Karate Combat.

"Karate was always a tool to challenge myself and gain the confidence and discipline needed to grow my mindset, No matter what, just keep going. When I stepped into the Karate Combat pit, I found the biggest opportunity to finally showcase my talent after so many years of practice. The art of body coordination in karate combined with the mentality of combat is one of the most beautiful concepts in sports and brings out the best of my abilities as an artist..."

BRANCH CHIEF SUMMER CLINIC - HONBU DOJO!!

This summer, Saiko Shihan Oyama conducted the annual Branch Chief Summer Clinic Instructors Camp at Honbu Dojo in Birmingham, Alabama. Several Instructors traveled from across the country and from Japan to attend the Branch Chief Clinic, including Shuseki Shihan Saito Takeshi, Sensei Taka Iwamoto, and Sensei Derek Yeung (San Francisco Branch), Shihan Takahashi (Atlanta Branch), Shihan Masa, Shihan Naoi, and Sensei Ishikawa (Japan Branch). Sensei Josh (St. Louis Branch) and Senpai Chase (Atlanta Branch) attended as well.

Saiko Shihan continues to conduct annual training clinics to all the Shihans and Senseis, and encourages any Black Belts or senior students interested in becoming instructors  to sign up and visit Honbu Dojo to refresh their knowledge of the World Oyama Karate curriculum, principles, and concepts. This is one of the many ways Oyama Karate Instructors refine and sharpen their teaching strategies for their Dojos back home. If you are interested in participating, tell your Shihan! OSU!
